Post Week 16 Playoff Picture and Summary: Buncha Chumps 4.0
Two teams, one game, one goal. The time has come for the 2023 Buncha Chumps Fantasy Football Championship.
Rather than diving into a story from the past week, this piece will solely preview the Championship match.
2023 Championship Preview
It’s been a grind of a season to this point and two teams deserve to be recognized for their resilience and toughness. Congratulations to The Israeli Chubs and Kuppma Nuts for making it to the final round of the playoffs. They have undoubtedly earned their spots at the top.
Let’s take a look at what’s been working for each team leading up to the Championship.
The Israeli Chubs
To be frank, everything has gone right for The Israeli Chubs this year. They finished the regular season as the highest-scoring team in the league, while simultaneously allowing the fewest points of any team. To no surprise, their 11–3 record was also the best in the league. Must be a tough life.
Heading into the Championship, they’ve won eight of their last nine games, averaging 154.7 points per game over that stretch. While it’s been mostly a team effort to this point, one player has been leading the way for The Israeli Chubs: Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers running back averages 25.4 points per game, with a season-high of 41.7 points and a season-low of 13.8 points. With two games remaining in the NFL season, McCaffrey is on pace to have the seventh-best fantasy season for any running back in the history of the game.
The last time The Israeli Chubs played Kuppma Nuts was back in Week 7, where they came out on top 141.76–108.14.
Kuppma Nuts
Contrary to their opponent, things haven’t been easy for Kuppma Nuts this year. They started the season at the bottom of the league with back-to-back losses. Eventually, they got their heads above water and managed a 6–5 record through 11 weeks. Since then, they’ve been red hot, winning each of their last five contests while averaging 132.9 points.
The best thing about Kuppma Nuts: they play like a team. There isn’t just one player that carries them to victory. This is well-balanced, well-oiled machine. Raheem Mostert, Kyren Williams, Cooper Kupp, Chris Olave, Josh Jacobs, Zay Flowers — everyone contributes. There aren’t many teams around the league that are as structurally sound as this one.
If Kuppma Nuts want to take down the league’s best team, they’ll need to play their best game of the season. Or, pray that Christian McCaffrey is nulled into the void. Which seems pretty unlikely.
